DATE: Feb. 20, 2014 ACTIONS: Magistrates took the following actions: Approved minutes of Jan. 16 meeting; approved on second reading the adoption of a budget amendment in the Local Government and Economic Authority Fund for an insurance claim at the airport for $9,042.56; approved recommendations from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the rural secondary road program; granted South Central Rural Telephone Corporation permission to cross Radio Station Road property; reappointed Bob Greer and James Carter to the tourism commission; reviewed the county clerk’s 2014 budget which featured receipts totaling $1,917,244 and disbursements in the amount of $1,867,866; agreed to continue Code Red weather warning system at a cost of $3,748.50 per year; agreed to purchase a spare voting machine and 13 key cards at a cost of $5,023; approved transfers, claims and road advisory committee projects.
OTHER BUSINESS: Ricky Ross, manager of the Monroe County Water District, notified magistrates about the increase in county water rates, which were due to the city of Tompkinsville’s raising retail and wholesale water rates. David Rich, emergency management director, spoke to magistrates about the upcoming tornado drill, which is scheduled to take place onMarch 4 statewide.
