The Glasgow City Council unanimously passed the first reading of an ordinance Monday at its regular meeting accepting as city streets Ashkirk Lane and Ashwood Lane, which are off Scottie Drive.
In the council members' packets was a letter from Public Works Superintendent Kurt Frey to Kevin Myatt, planning director for the Joint City-County Planning Commission of Barren County, recommending that the streets be approved.
Councilman Harold Armstrong, who serves on the council Infrastructure Committee, pointed out that the request had come to the city approximately four to six years ago and it was declined because the streets had a lot of deficiencies. Frey then gave the subdivision developers a list of things they could do to bring the streets up to par, Armstrong said, adding that he’d been to look at the location recently to check on the progress and was satisfied.
“I endorse that we accept this, because those repairs have been made,” he said.
