2:30 p.m. AFTERNOON UPDATE: Arrests made in Metcalfe County after bomb threat to schools

GLASGOW — Two female juveniles, ages 15 and 16 were arrested Thursday about 7:30 a.m. in connection with a bomb threat that was made to all Metcalfe County schools on Wednesday.

The quick arrests were the result of "the hard work of the school administration, Edmonton Police Department, Metcalfe County Sheriff's office, Kentucky State Police, Court Designated Worker, Office of Emergency Management and Metcalfe County Attorney's office," stated Byron Jeffries, interim superintendent for Metcalfe County Schools, in a Thursday morning press release.

Following the bomb threat on Wednesday, Kentucky State Police and school administration searched all Metcalfe County school buildings in Edmonton, while North Metcalfe Volunteer Fire Department and Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department searched their respective schools with the assistance of school administration, according to the release.

The all-clear was given for all Metcalfe County school facilities on Wednesday afternoon. All school facilities were secured and student safety was never compromised during or as a result of the threat, stated Jeffries.

"On behalf of the Metcalfe County Board of Education, we thank these individuals for their professionalism," he said.
