A Glasgow woman was arrested on shoplifting and drug charges Friday.
Donna Winchester, 44, was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property (shoplifting), two counts of second-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense) and third-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense).
Winchester allegedly concealed numerous items inside her purse, including razors and other items while shopping at Walmart on Friday. She went through the self-check out counter, but did not scan all items in the cart, according to a Glasgow Police Department press release.
She told police there was stolen merchandise in her purse and gave verbal consent for police to search her purse. While doing so, police discovered 10 blue pills and 10 peach pills, as well as two Suboxole prescriptions.
Winchester told police the pills were not hers. The pills were found inside her wallet along with her driver's license, Social Security card and other identifiers, the police report stated.
Winchester was placed under arrest and transported to the Barren County Detention Center. She was released from jail on Saturday, according to the jail's website.
