11:56 MORNING UPDATE: Constable injured in wreck involving deer

GLASGOW —

A Barren County constable was injured in a collision over the weekend after a deer ran in front of his 2004 Ford Crown Victoria on Hiseville Road, according to a Barren County Sheriff's Office press release.

Constable George "Buddy" Houchens Jr. of Glasgow was traveling east at approximately 2:49 p.m. Sunday and swerved to miss the deer and went off the left side of the road, down an earth embankment, and the left side of the vehicle struck a tree. The vehicle then struck a fence before coming to a complete stop, according to the BCSO statement. Constable Houchens was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. BCSO was assisted on scene by Barren-Metcalfe County EMS and Hiseville Volunteer Fire Department.
