2 campgrounds still open despite federal shutdown

GLASGOW —

Two area campgrounds, Bailey’s Point and Tailwater, which are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will remain open for the rest of the week, despite the shutdown of the federal government.

“They are open, but come this Friday we will have to re-evaluate,” said Carlos Lopez, project manager for the Corps of Engineers. “Weekends present a different scenario versus through the week.”

Bailey’s Point and Tailwater campgrounds have more visitors on the weekends than during the week.
