Monroe court keeps tax rate

Monroe County magistrates voted earlier this week to leave county tax rates unchanged from 2012.

They approved the first reading of an ordinance setting the tax rates Wednesday.  

“We just didn't want to raise any rates. We wanted to leave it the same,” said Monroe County Judge-Executive Tommy Willett, explaining why magistrates chose not to take the compensating tax rate or to increase the amount of tax revenue the county collected in 2012 by 4 percent.
