Glasgow Independent Schools budget shows “considerably less” funding for 2014

GLASGOW — Sue Furlong, Glasgow Independent Schools finance officer, shared the 2013-14 school year budget at a regular school board session on Monday. The budget, which Furlong described as “tight,” is expected to have more than $356,600 less in federal and state granting funding from last year.

Furlong said federal sequestration reduced the amount of grant funding for this year. Despite the difficult fiscal times, Furlong said it’s not as bad as she initially anticipated.
