Glasgow Police Chief Guy Turcotte will begin hosting the Chief’s Coffee Corner, a question and answer event, that will take place monthly starting Wednesday.
The event will begin at 7 a.m. and will occur the first Wednesday of each month at Micqueal’s Bistro at 131 East Main St. Those who attend will be treated to a free cup of coffee.
Julie Anne Williams, public affairs officer for the Glasgow Police Department, said the police chief has been talking about holding such an event on a regular basis for the past two years.
The reason for the event is “so people can express their comments, concerns, compliments, etc. to the police chief,” Williams said.
“This is something to better the police department and to have a better communication with the police department; just an open door for people to come in and sit down in an informal setting and just talk,” she said.
Mayor Rhonda Riherd Trautman said hosting such an event is a good way for people to get questions for the police chief or about the police department answered. It also provides an opportunity for people to get to know the police chief better.
“I think it’s a good way to reach out to the public,” she said.
