Three people transported to hospital after wreck on Sorensen Avenue

GLASGOW — A single-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon resulted in three individuals’ going to the hospital, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.

A witness told police that the vehicle had been going south on Sorenson Avenue, and it “appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed as it entered a curve at the crest of a hill,” where it slid off the roadway and into the ditch line on the right side of the road. The witness also said the car traveled a short distance in the ditch before turning over on its top, according to the GPD report.

When police arrived, the 2000 Chevrolet Prizm was upside down in a roadside ditch facing south.

Warren B. Frazier, 26, of Glasgow, who had been in the rear passenger-side seat, was lying in the roadway beside the vehicle, with front-seat passenger Michael W. Jernigan, 21, of Tampa, Fla., and driver Mellonie K. Vance, 42, of Scottsville was standing near him, according to the GPD report.

Jernigan told Sgt. Brad Lewis he was not injured and Vance said she was “but she did not think it was very bad, just minor cuts,” according to the report.

Frazier said he had pain in his upper back area but was not having trouble breathing, and Lewis advised him to remain still until emergency medical personnel arrived and could evaluate his injuries, according to the report.

Barren-Metcalfe EMS later transported all three people to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for further evaluation, according to Lewis’ narrative.

After examining the scene, Lewis went to the hospital and interviewed the individuals who had been in the car. Vance reported the vehicle began to slide as she reached the crest of the hill and she overcorrected and could not regain control once the car was in the ditch. Jernigan said essentially the same thing and said he had helped Vance, his mother, and then Frazier out of the vehicle.
