3:15 AFTERNOON UPDATE: Final section of outer loop project awarded

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded a $20.8 million project to complete the last section of the four-lane Glasgow Outer Loop in Barren County.

The completed outer loop will run north of Glasgow, connecting to the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway on the east and west sides of the city. It will cross U.S. 68, U.S. 31E, KY 90 and U.S. 68.

The contract for the last section will involve constructing 2.64 miles of roadway to connect the loop from U.S. 68 to the parkway on the west. The contract was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC for $20,880,988.

The start date for the project has not yet been determined, but the contract requires completion within 265 days once work has begun.

As details are worked out for start dates, the public will be informed.
