The city’s leasing of the building at 100 S. Broadway St. to be used for the headquarters of Glasgow Police Department is a done deal. The rent will be $4,500 per month, with a $4,500 security deposit.
The city will have full access to the building currently occupied by Venture Contracting Inc. starting April 1, but a few things have to be done before the GPD can move a block down from its current location at 201 S. Broadway St.
Preparation work includes installing one security door to separate the lobby from the rest of the building and setting up computer and phone lines, Mayor Rhonda Riherd Trautman said. Eventually, two other security doors will probably be installed to limit access to other sections of the building, she said.
GPD Chief Guy Turcotte has ideas for a large open room toward the rear of the building that might involve dividing it in some way, but that will come a bit later, Trautman said, adding that the to-do list is divided into just a few of those immediate needs and then “later” needs.
“Our goal is to get in,” she said, then evaluate the other priorities.
