A resolution to have the City of Glasgow withdraw from the Glasgow-Barren County Tourist and Convention Commission and form its own such organization has been postponed for now.
At its regular meeting Monday, Glasgow City Council discussed the proposal that was sponsored by its finance committee. The resolution noted that the committee had met with members of the tourist commission more than six months ago and “enumerated areas that required improvement.”
The resolution cited concerns voiced by Councilman Wendell Honeycutt and others during the committee meeting, such as the proportion of salary and benefits to the total budget and the commission’s website’s not being updated, “apparently since 2008.”
