Barren County School board votes for 4 percent property tax rate increase

GLASGOW — The Barren County Board of Education approved a four percent tax rate, which will result in a 2.3 cent increase in property taxes, at a special called meeting on Wednesday.

The vote was passed in a four to one vote. Charlotte Beals, Shelly Groce, Randy Simmons, Robbie Toms voted in favor of the four percent tax rate and Kerry Dilley voted against it. Superintendent Bo Matthews recommended the tax rate increase to help offset the recent cuts the school district has received in federal and state funding.
