GLASGOW — The Scotties are headed back to Kentucky high school marching band semifinals in Louisville on Saturday to see if they can repeat what they've done two of the last three years – bring home a state title.
The Glasgow High School Scottie Marching Band took second-place honors at the 2013 Kentucky Music Educators Association State Marching Band Class 2A West Regional Quarterfinals in Greenville on Oct. 19, advancing them to the state semifinals.
With a source of 83.4, the Scotties were awarded second place behind Trigg County. Only 0.35 point separated the two bands with TCHS scoring 83.75. Third place was awarded to Owensboro Catholic with a score of 80.4.
The three top finishers all earned distinguished ratings from the judges.
The Scotties won the state title in Class 2A competition in both 2010 and 2012. In 2011, the band finished in fourth place in the state finals competition.
The Scottie Band will compete at Louisville Christian Academy on Saturday and will perform at University of Louisville Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium on Saturday evening in the Class 2A finals if they finish as one of the top four bands in semifinal competition.
