Glasgow Daily Times

Bobbi Roach drives more than 60 miles one way each week to take the Beginning American Sign Language class through the Barren County Community Education Program.

A resident of Hardin County, Roach makes the weekly drive because she has a deep desire to learn how to communicate with the deaf.

She works in the social services field and often finds herself needing to communicate with deaf clients.

“Several years ago I was taking a rape crisis line call and one girl was deaf,” Roach said. “It took like three hours to get an interpreter to her.”
