Actors harvest community history

GLASGOW — Local historical characters will come to life this weekend during South Central Kentucky Cultural Center’s Harvest of History, a walking tour at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Those who take the tour will meet Stephen Landrum, Carolyn Parsons, Mollie Carmon, Terry L. Hatchett, Nettie Depp, Rev. James Chenault, Dora Barlow Yancey and George J. Ellis Sr.

Not all of those portrayed are buried in the cemetery.

“Last year we decided to feature people of interest from our area’s history, not just people buried in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery,” said Sherry Wesley, a volunteer for the museum, who spearheads the organization of the annual event.

Harvest of History, a walking tour of the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery, will be Friday and Saturday, beginning each night at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the cultural center. Transportation is provided to the cemetery from the museum. The last tour departs the museum at 8 p.m. and concludes by 9 p.m. For more information, call 270-651-9792.
