TOMPKINSVILLE — City commissioners voted Tuesday night during a special-called meeting to issue verbal and written warnings to employees of the city’s water department in regards to a violation discovered by state officials.

The violation was observed in early June by officials with the Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Department for Environmental Protection, Kentucky Division of Water.

In an earlier Glasgow Daily Times article, Commissioner Scotty Turner explained there was a piece of equipment at the water plant that had stopped working and that water plant employees were copying the numbers down without realizing the equipment had stopped functioning.

The matter was turned over to the city’s ethics committee, which reported back to commissioners Tuesday night. Commissioners met with members of the ethics committee in closed session.

When the commission resumed its open session, Commissioner Sherry Crawford said, “Upon the findings of the ethics committee there will be verbal and written warnings given to employees of the water department.”
