COLUMBIA —  

During the month of October, there were 23 traffic accidents investigated by the state police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

 There were three fatalities during the month of October in the Post 15 area:

 Joshua Hale of Gamaliel was killed in Monroe County on Oct. 7.

Lilly D. Poff of Jamestown was killed in Casey County on Oct. 24.

Sean Wilkerson of Campbellsville was killed in Taylor County on Oct. 25.

 This brings our yearly fatality count to 32 compared with 36 through this same period in 2011.

Statewide fatality count stands at 596 compared with 609 through this same period in 2011.

 During the month of October, there were 1,400 citations written, 269 courtesy notices written, 1,735 vehicles inspected, 694 complaints answered, 76 motorists assisted, 67 criminal cases opened and 128 criminal arrests made.
