The Office of the Barren County Clerk is reminding residents that Tuesday, Oct. 9, is the last day to register to vote or change any information on a voter registration card.
Any residents age 18 or older who have not registered to vote can do so at the county clerk’s office, and registered voters who have had a change in address or change in married name must have that information corrected on their voter registration card by Oct. 9. County Clerk Joanne London suggested that voters check registration cards against driver’s licenses to make sure they match.
“If your driver’s license and your voter registration match, you’ll be O.K.,” London said.
Correcting voter registration information by Oct. 9 will save voters a lot of time on election day, which is Nov. 6, London said. There will most likely be lines at voting booths, and a person who is not properly registered in their precinct will have to go to the county clerk’s office on election day and get authorization from the election board to vote in the new precinct, and then return to the voting booth to vote. That can be avoided if all voters verify their information before November.
“It’ll save them time and save us time,” London said.
