Governor brings money, talks politics

TOMPKINSVILLE — Many Monroe Countians turned out Wednesday to hear what Gov. Steve Beshear had to say during his visit to Tompkinsville, and to have their photos made with him.

Beshear was in town for a check presentation. He, along with other state and federal dignitaries, presented more than $1.6 million to representatives of the cities of Tompkinsville and Gamaliel for sewer rehabilitation projects.

Beshear told those who had gathered in the district courtroom of the Monroe County Justice Center that sewer projects “are not glamorous, but boy, are they essential.”
