CAVE CITY — Seventy-five businesses were represented at the 3rd annual South Central Kentucky Business Expo Tuesday.

“This is our biggest and best yet,” said Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee Representative Bob Cary.

The event, sponsored by T.J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow Coin and Jewelry and several other local businesses, featured guest speaker Bob Waitkus who is the UPS Package Division Manager. Waitkus spoke about how logistics can enhance businesses regardless of the tough economic times.

Currently, UPS is the third largest private employer. Waitkus credited UPS’s success on always having a “finger on the pulse of the economy.”

He discussed the “highly choreographed processes” products go through that the consumer doesn’t often think of. Waitkus compared these processes to the individual pieces needed to make a car run.

Waitkus described logistics as “the science behind getting things exactly where they need to be, when they need to be.”
