Barren County Fiscal Court mulls raises, vehicles


The first reading of the county’s proposed budget of nearly $13 million will wait until its next regular meeting, May 21, to allow more time for determining whether raises can be included and, if so, how much and also to allow for consideration of amendments proposed by the sheriff, who is asking to purchase six new vehicles.

As Barren County Fiscal Court during a special-called meeting Tuesday considered each section of a possible spending plan for the fiscal year beginning July 1, starting with the general fund, Magistrate Chris Steward asked Emergency Management Director Tony Richey whether the county needed more community outdoor warning sirens.
