BOWLING GREEN — After U.S. Department of Justice civil rights attorney Sanjay Patel dramatically set up the image of the alleged brutal beating administered by Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton, deputy Aaron Bennett and drug task force detective Eric Guffey from the perspective of a teenage witness, Eaton's defense attorney, J. Guthrie True, took an hour to tear apart the prosecution's story during his opening argument in the officers' federal trial Tuesday morning.

The jury was given a 15-minute reprieve after the first hour and a half of opening arguments, and will soon hear arguments from attorneys Brian Butler, defending Guffey, and Buddy Alexander, defending Bennett.
