GLASGOW — Four people were transported from the scene by ambulance for hospital care after a three-vehicle accident on Veterans Outer Loop at the entrance to Walmart across from South Central Bank, Glasgow Police Chief Guy Turcotte said.
The male driver of a pickup pulling a livestock trailer and the female driver of an SUV and her two juvenile passengers -- a male and a female -- were injured, Turcotte said, the female driver of a GMC Jimmy reported no injuries. No other people are believed to have been in the vehicles.
The pickup jack-knived. The people in the Jimmy and the SUV were all wearing seatbelts, he said, and the two front airbags deployed on the SUV, the engine of which was lying several feet away in the road.
“The car's destroyed all the way around, but the passenger doors are not touched,” he said of the SUV, and adding that it could have been a lot worse for the people in that vehicle than it was. From his initial observation, he said their injuries did not appear as severe as the pickup driver's.
In addition GPD and Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Glasgow Fire Department assisted at the accident site.
Further details were unavailable at press time. Turcotte said that once officers completed their reports, further information would be released. He said the department would likely try to get video footage from Walmart's security camera(s) to get a better idea of the sequence of events.
