Cave City Police Department officers made three arrests over the weekend, according to information from the police department.
On Sunday, Brian Wilson, 31, of Cave City, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense.
Wilson was stopped by officer Alan Shirley and it was determined he was under the influence of alcohol, according to a press release from the CCPD. He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
Russell Bush, 21, of Upton, was arrested Friday and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, and failure to wear a seat belt.
Shirley stopped Bush for not wearing a seat belt, then determined he smelled the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. Bush was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
Also on Friday, Katelyn Overfelt, 19, of Cave City, and Veronica Vance, 20, of Cave City, were both arrested.
Overfelt was charged with fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and second-degree disorderly conduct. She was seen, according to the press release, assaulting her estranged boyfriend in the parking lot of Happy Valley Apartments.
After a short struggle, Cave City Police Chief Jeff Wright made the arrest. Overfelt was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
Vance was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct for causing a disturbance at the scene. She was also lodged in the county jail.
BCSO responds to motorcycle wreck on Mammoth Cave Road
A Franklin man was injured Sunday afternoon in a single-motorcycle crash.
Barren County Sheriff’s Officer personnel responded to the scene of a motorcycle crash at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Mammoth Cave Road and found a 1986 Honda motorcycle driven by James M. McCoy, 36, of Franklin had crashed, according to a press release from BCSO.
Franklin had been riding south when the brakes on his motorcycle locked, causing him to lose control near the intersection of Old Mammoth Cave Road.
The bike slid down the roadway on its side for several feet before finally coming to a stop.
McCoy was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Cave City Volunteer Fire Department and Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services personnel.
