Two Glasgow residents injured in wreck

GLASGOW — Two Glasgow residents were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle car wreck in front of the Dollar General Store on Scottsville Road, according to a Barren County Sheriff's Office press release.

Tommy Maupin, 44, of Glasgow, was driving northbound in his 1996 Toyota truck when Tommy McCoy, 66, drove out of the parking lot of Dollar General in his 2001 Ford Explorer and pulled into Maupin's path. Maupin's vehicle struck the driver's side of McCoy's car, which caused severe damage to both vehicles, according to the release.

McCoy and his wife, Elizabeth, were taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. According to the hospital, they were treated and released. Maupin and his passenger, who was not named in the release, were not injured, the release said.

According to the release, the wreck was investigated by BCSO deputies Mike Houchens and Ken Thomas. The Haywood Fire Department and Barren-Metcalfe County Emergency Medical Services were also on scene.
