Several new state laws are set to take effect in the next week, with about half a dozen of those focusing on some aspect of crime.
While some are not expected to have much direct impact on the way local agencies conduct their business other than perhaps a bit more paperwork, others may impose additional costs or create other issues for them.
Three of them are meant to help sure up a safety net for victims of crimes; even if those increase the workload for someone, local public servants don’t seem to mind.
