‘How do I take care of that man of mine?’

Women learn about male health issues

GLASGOW — When men get squeamish about certain aspects of their health, doctors sometimes rely on wives or significant others to help ensure the men in their lives get the care they need. With that in mind, T.J. Health Partners urologist Dr. Ryan Turpen hosted a Thursday “Lunch and Learn” at the T.J. Health Pavilion Community Center to address what women need to know about men’s health.

Women can be great advocates for men’s health, Turpen said, but they need to know what are the important issues for which to watch. For the one-hour presentation he gave to members of the public and  T.J. Health Pavilion and T.J. Samson Community Hospital employees, Turpen focused on four topics: prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), erectile dysfunction and hypogonadism, or low testosterone.
