Training for local pastors is available

GLASGOW — A series of training conferences for local pastors will get under way on April 30.

The first will be about “the idea of learning to take care of yourself before you take care of others and making sure you stay in check on that,” said Brad Asbury, chaplain at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where the events are hosted.

Asbury said anyone who helps others continually is at a higher risk of burnout than some professions, so he wanted to start the sessions by focusing on some ways to avoid that. Not addressing it can impact ministers physically, emotionally and spiritually and can also affect their marriages, families and congregations.
