Plenty of oohs and aahs will be heard on Wednesday and Thursday nights as people turn out to watch two annual area fireworks displays.
The first fireworks show will take place Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Campground and Resort in Cave City.
The event is free to the public, with free parking permitted in the field along Mammoth Cave Road just before the entrance to the campground.
“There will be people out there directing traffic for the outside public,” said Emily Rudolph, assistant general manager of the camp-resort.
Those planning to attend the fireworks display are urged to bring their own lawn chairs, as well as food and drink.
The band Dear Prudence will be performing in the field for those staying at the campground, but Rudolph said it is possible the band could be heard by the general public. The band, which plays Beatles cover music, will begin performing at 8:30 p.m.
The second fireworks display will take place Thursday around 9 p.m. at Barren River Lake State Resort Park.
