Caveland Sanitation Authority gets $1.8M

Money will help replace water tank

GLASGOW — The Caveland Sanitation Authority, which does business as Caveland Environmental Authority, will be receiving more than $1.8 million in funding from USDA Rural Development.

The money, which includes a $1.1 million loan and a $736,000 grant, will be used to construct a new 750,000-gallon ground water storage tank to replace the one near Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Cave City. It will also allow for the construction of a new booster station and the installation of approximately four miles of water line to provide a dependable water supply for residents in Cave City and Park City, as well as others in Barren County who are served by CEA.

The project will help CEA improve water pressure for those customers, as well as meet Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for water quality, David Peterson, chief executive officer for CEA, said.
