BCHS teacher wins innovation award

GLASGOW —

Rachel Perkins, Barren County High School math teacher, is one of four teachers nationwide who won an Epson America Inc., sponsored innovative uses of technology in the classroom contest.

Perkins beat out more than 1,100 other teachers who entered the contest to win a new Epson DC-20 Document Camera. One of Perkins’ main focuses was the usefulness of the document camera for displaying origami and three-dimensional shapes in geometry class. Perkins and many other teachers are finding creative ways to utilize technology to explain and engage students in the lesson.
