CheyAnne Fant, Barren County Schools food service director, is revamping the school breakfast and lunch menus with the help of students.
Fant started the school year with administrators cooking multi-grain pancake samples on a griddle. Distributing samples to students to figure out what they like best has been a research strategy for Fant to select the most popular breakfast and lunch foods. She said it’s about getting the students excited about what’s being served in the cafeteria.
“They’re our customers,” Fant said. “If I don’t ask, I’m never going to build our business.”
