Full report on Park City wreck fatality released

GLASGOW — The full details on a crash involving a Greensburg woman – who later died from injuries sustained in the  crash – and a Kentucky State Police trooper determined inattention to be the main cause of the crash.

On Sept. 15, 2011, Trooper Jonathan Biven and two other troopers were traveling on U.S. 31W north of Park City when Biven drove his cruiser around a curve and collided with a Ford Mustang driven by Nurcan Ceylan, 33.

Ceylan was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Biven, public information officer for the Bowling Green KSP post, suffered minor injuries and returned to work a week after the crash, according to previous reporting by the Daily Times.

But the details of that day had not been released publicly because of an ongoing investigation by the KSP. The file includes narratives from the troopers in front of Biven and investigation notes by KSP Lt. John W. Clark, who wrote the crash report.

At about 3:47 p.m. that day, Trooper Ronnie Reynolds stated he “heard something behind him and as he looked in his rear view mirror he observed Tpr. Biven’s vehicle roll into the ditch,” according to the investigation report.
