10:35 MORNING UPDATE: Glasgow man arrested for DUI

GLASGOW — A Glasgow man was arrested Thursday on DUI and another charge after being involved in a hit and run wreck.

Jeremy W. Ballard, 29, of 207 Preston St., was charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to renter aid assistance and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs etc. with aggravated circumstances (third offense), according to a Glasgow Police Department press release.

Police were called to the area of Enterprise, an automotive rental business, and Happy Valley Road in reference to a hit and run accident at Bailey and Gibson auto dealership on Happy Valley Road.

Witnesses told police they saw a white, Chevy truck hit a utility pole and leave the scene.

Glasgow Police Officer Brandon Fletcher and Captain Eddie Lindsey arrived at 207 Preston St. and discovered the white truck in the driveway. The police officers made contact with Ballard, who appeared to be under the influence. Ballard admitted to driving the truck in the area of the hit and run wreck, but could not recall striking a utility pole, the press release stated.

Ballard showed a presence of alcohol on a portable breathalyzer test  with a result of 0.289, but refused to take the field sobriety test. Ballard was positively identified by witnesses as being the involved person in the wreck.

Ballard was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center but was released Friday morning on a $1,500 unsecured bond.
