Finding a ‘Sustainable’ homeplace

Local group looks for permanent operating spot

Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW — If Sustainable Glasgow gets its wish, it will soon have a permanent, indoor location from which the Bounty of the Barrens and other endeavors can operate.

The nonprofit organization has applied for a $150,000 Kentucky Agricultural Development Grant, which is funded through a settlement reached with tobacco companies and encourages alternative agricultural options. If the grant is approved, it would be contingent upon Sustainable Glasgow being able to match that amount.

Jerry Ralston, president of the group’s board of directors, confirmed that Sustainable Glasgow recently obtained an option to purchase the former location of PJ’s College of Cosmetology on the West Washington Street side of the Public Square. He declined to cite the price.
