9:12 A.M. MONDAY OBITUARY UPDATE: Cass Hammer, TOMPKINSVILLE

TOMPKINSVILLE — Cass Hammer, 84, of Tompkinsville, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, at his home.

 

Cass was born in Monroe County on March 3, 1929, a son of the late Vessie (Ford) and Richard Tennessee Hammer.

He served in the U.S. Army during Korea War as a tanker Sergeant.

He worked as a farmer for many years.

Cass is survived by three sons, Martin Hammer, Kevin Hammer, Timmy Hammer, all of Tompkinsville. Cass is also survived by a sister, Vida Roth, of Tompkinsville; four brothers, Charles Hammer, of Kentucky; High Hammer, of Indiana; Jerry Hammer, of Tompkinsville; Travler Hammer, of Tompkinsville; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a brother; Calvin Hammer; A sister, Tonnie Giddings, and a great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be at Yokley Trible Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept.16, with Rex Robin Rush speaking.

Visitation is in progress and will continue Monday from 6 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. 
Burial is in the Hammer Cemetery with military rights performed by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
