GLASGOW —

On Thursday, Community Medical Care presented awards to individuals and organizations who have contributed time and money to CMC's efforts.

Community Medical Care is a local charity that provides medical services to low-income seniors and working, uninsured adults in Barren County. This is its 11th year.

In the past year, 9,188 services have been provided to individuals in the county, said Dr. Bharat Mody, a CMC executive board director and one of the founders of the charity.

Dr. Bharat Mody said that Community Medical Care was started because there was a need for it.

“We all got together, the church leaders, the civic leaders, social workers, the medical community,” Mody said. “We thought we needed to do something for the people who were left behind in this community. This charity is run by the community, supported by the community and helps the community.”
