Loose log kills Metcalfe County man

GLASGOW — A Metcalfe County man died Thursday morning as the result of a logging incident.

Johnnie Dubree, 50, of Summer Shade, was pronounced dead at 10:10 a.m. at James Ritter Lumber Company in Summer Shade by Metcalfe County Coroner Larry Wilson.

Dubree was unstrapping a tractor-trailer load of logs when one of the top logs rolled off and hit him, Wilson said.

Dubree was alone when the incident happened, but nearby co-workers saw him lying on the ground and went to check on him when they discovered he had died, Wilson said.

McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade is in charge of funeral arrangements.
