GLASGOW — Matt Bevin, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, told a group of nearly 60 in Glasgow on Monday that his values are Kentucky's values – being socially and fiscally conservative, knowing the constitution is the “law of the land.” Judeo-Christian beliefs are “the entire world view that I have,” he said.
Bevin said he recognizes, however, “We're not looking someone to be a moral or religious leader. … We need a civic leader.”
He aims to be that leader, but to do so, he'll have to compete first with longtime Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell, and if he makes it the general election, he'll face Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes.
