11:16 MORNING UPDATE: Robbery investigation under way

GLASGOW — Detectives with the Barren County Sheriff's Office are investigating a robbery that is believed to have occurred between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Flint Knob and Whitney Woods roads.

"A male subject here was found by a neighbor with his hands tied behind his back here on the porch and had suffered some blunt force trauma to the head. The injuries were sustained during the robbery attempt,” said Deputy Mike Houchens, public information officer for the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office would not release the name of the injured man.

The suspects in the case left the residence, but deputies are not sure what type of vehicle they left in.

"We are still processing the scene to see if we can find evidence and we are going to follow any tips that we can get from the scene,” Houchens said.

Scanner traffic indicated there to be three suspects.

"At this point we don't know. That's what the initial report is, but we don't know that to be a fact yet,” Houchens said.

Detective Rusty Anderson is leading the investigation. No further details about the robbery were available at press time.

In addition to the sheriff's office, personnel with the Cave City Volunteer Fire Department and the Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service also responded to the scene.
