County may get a new precinct

GLASGOW —

As state officials were reviewing the written descriptions of Barren County’s voting precincts and comparing them with how they were illustrated on the map, an issue was discovered that is leading to making one precinct into two.

The split would not change which or how many voters are in any magisterial district – both remain in District 1, which is currently represented by Magistrate John Benningfield – or where they vote, which is at Lera B. Mitchell Clubhouse. The revision comes with a price, though.

County Clerk Joanne London, in her capacity as member of the county’s Board of Elections, reported the issue to Barren County Fiscal Court at its regular meeting Tuesday.
