Author Jim Browning to read from novel; sign copies of book

GLASGOW — Author Jim Browning will read from his book “Family Jewell” at Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library at 10 a.m. Saturday. He will be available after the reading to sign copies of the book.

The book is a sequel to the 2008 “Family Gems: A Novel in Letters,” which Browning and Daniel Curry co-wrote. The authors take on the personas of Southern sisters – Jewell of Buck Creek, Ky., and Ruby of Falstaff, Ariz. – whose correspondence from the late 1970s includes not just letters, but also recipes and news clippings, and contains vivid descriptions to bring life to the characters in their respective worlds.
