BOWLING GREEN —

2:30 p.m. update: Hughes and the 17-month-old boy remain in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt, according to KSP Public Affairs Officer Jonathan Biven. The state police are calling the hospital every eight hours to check on the patients' status. No other information has been discovered in the case, Biven said.

A Glasgow woman died Monday morning after she lost control of her vehicle, which collided with a pickup on Plano Road south of Bowling Green.

Ciara Taylor, 23, was driving a 1999 Buick east at 11:14 a.m. when her vehicle collided with a 1994 Chevrolet driven by Bailey Hughes, 74, of Bowling Green, according to a release from Kentucky State Police.

Taylor was taken to The Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Taylor’s passenger, a 17-month-old boy, was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Hughes was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to the release.

Taylor was wearing a seat belt and the passenger was riding in a child restraint seat at the time of the collision. Hughes was not wearing a seat belt, according to the release.

Trooper Brett Coomes is investigating the collision.
