New engineer position put on hold


The creation of a new city engineer position has been postponed – at least until Glasgow City Council has a better idea of how its budget for the next fiscal year looks.

The finance committee has started hearing from the individual departments heads what they would like to see covered in the budget for July 1 of this year through June 30, 2014, and when those presentations are finished, the serious number crunching begins.

One thing on the Department of Public Works’ wish list is to have a city engineer who can do much of the work in-house that is otherwise hired out on a contract basis.
