Man with Glasgow connections killed in Greenup crash

GREENUP — The Greenup County Sheriff’s Department on Monday released additional information regarding a triple-fatality accident on U.S. 23 Sunday, including the names of the victims.

The head-on collision occurred about 4:05 p.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. 23 near J&J Village, inside Greenup city limits. Killed were Tracie R. Howard, 43, of Portsmouth; Ruby M. Brown, 22, of South Shore; and Jamond M. Buford, 30, of Ashland. Buford has family in Glasgow.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene by Greenup County Coroner Neil Wright.

There was one survivor of the collision, Joshua D. Bowling, 33, of Flatwoods. He was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center, where he was listed in what the sheriff’s department described as “very serious” condition.

Brown and Bowling were the drivers of the two vehicles, investigators said. Brown and Howard were in one vehicle; Bowling and Buford in the other.

The crash remains under investigation by Deputy David Bocook.
