Officer tickets Glasgow Police Department employee

GLASGOW — Following a five-day suspension from the Glasgow Police Department that ended March 4, Officer Joseph Ford pulled over and ticketed GPD Public Affairs Officer Julie Anne Williams at 9:04 p.m. Sunday on Happy Valley Road, according to a GPD citation.

Williams emailed the Daily Times a copy of the citation Monday after the newspaper requested the document.

Williams was cited for having no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure to produce insurance card and license to be in possession, according to the citation. The citation said that Williams’ plates expired in September.

Ford was suspended from GPD for five working days in late February, after Police Chief Guy Turcotte found that Ford violated the department’s code of ethics after conducting an internal affairs investigation, according to a news release from GPD.

The investigation stemmed from allegations that Ford misrepresented his location and was not in his assigned area at approximately 1 a.m. Jan. 27, according to an internal affairs investigation document the Daily Times later obtained through an open records request.

The Daily Times reached Ford by telephone Monday afternoon and asked if he knew he was pulling over Williams before he saw her inside the vehicle. Ford said it was against department policy for him to comment.

Williams told the Daily Times by phone Monday that employees of the police department and the city are treated the same by police officers as any other citizen.
