Kayla Giesbrecth, 19, of Austin died Wednesday evening after she and three others were ejected from an all-terrain vehicle in a wreck on Defeated Creek Road, according to a press release from the Barren County Sheriff's Office on Thursday.
BCSO responded to the incident at approximately 5:32 p.m. and found that the driver of the 800 Polaris Ranger, a male juvenile, lost control of the ATV, causing it to go through a fence and overturn, according to the BCSO statement. Giesbrecth, the driver and two other juvenile passengers were transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries, according to the statement. Giesbrecth was later pronounced dead at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident, according to the statement. The condition of the three juveniles is unavailable.
Deputy Adam Bow is investigating the accident, and was assisted on scene by the Austin Tracy Vounteer Fire Department and Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
