1:50 MORNING UPDATE: Man charged with murder in Fountain Run death; deceased identified

GLASGOW — A suspect was arrested just before midnight and charged in relation to the Fountain Run death Kentucky State Police had been investigating Tuesday.

Roger G. Mansfield, 53, had been found dead by the Fountain Run Police Department, which had been called to do a welfare check at his residence and contacted KSP shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday after making the discovery, according to a KSP press release.

At 11:47 p.m., 25-year-old Kassey Russell of Fountain Run was arrested at KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green, according to the statement from Billy Gregory, public information officer for KSP Post 3 in Columbia. Detectives developed information throughout the course of the day that led them to Russell, who was found at a local hotel in Bowling Green; KSP personnel from Post 3 initially arrested Russell on an unrelated warrant prior to charging him with murder, all according to Gregory’s press release.

Russell was lodged in the Monroe County Correctional Center, according to the jail's website.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville to determine the exact cause of death, according to the statement. Detective Bradley Stotts is investigating. Fountain Run Police Chief Harold Brown also assisted.
